web plagiarism?

Hello All,

We have a community producer who does a show on political opinion. I've recently discovered (by mistake) that he is reading off an obscure political website verbatim as his own opinion. The website's author ends with "copyright". Our producer does not recognize the author or the site and even substitutes or omits an occasional word or two that preserves a mist of originality towards himself.

What would your Access Center do.....?

copyright

DId you ever get any answers from this post? I just saw it today.

As far as we are concerned, the producers of the shows are responsible for their copyright issues. We just give access to the channel. So if someone comes to us with a complaint about copyright, we forward that complaint on to the producer and they have to deal with it.

That being said, I would certainly point out to the producer the risk they are taking and the consequences of that risk, so they can make an educated decision whether or not to rip someone off. I don't care what anyone says, copyright laws and "Fair Use" laws are not vague or ambiguous, and are not at all hard to enforce. I speak from experience...trust me.
