Troubleshooting Checklist: READ BEFORE POSTING!

Before reporting a problem on this forum, you should always run through the following checklist to help save yourself and everyone else time.

****ALWAYS CHECK THE MANUAL OR WATCH SCREENCASTS FIRST IF YOU HAVE A GENERAL USE QUESTION (all resources available here: http://vermontmediaexchange.net/content/vmx-self-support)****

1. Search the site or look through the forum to make sure no one else has posted a similar issue. For example, if you're having problems with audio, search for the word 'audio'.

2. If you are having problems with Pando, please follow the steps in section “Uploading a file to VMX” of the VMX handbook to ensure you are logged in to the correct Pando account.

3. “I get an error that says ‘Can’t make application into type anything’!”
Solution: This error will occasionally occur with the transcoder depending on how fast your machine is processing the files. If you get it once or twice in a blue moon, just hit OK and let it continue. If you start getting this error all the time, post on the forum (or better yet, look around for a post that might already exist on this).

4. If you are not receiving emails on finished transcodes, make sure the Apple Mail application is OPEN.

How are you getting to the update? Are you going into the VMX preferences and clicking on Check Now? If you don't get that option you may need to quit VMX and restart it. It only gives you the ability to CheckNow once per session. As of now, I believe the autoupdater is not working, so you need to do it manually.

I'm not sure what was wrong in this case, but i deleted the application, the preferences for VMX, and the VMX cache. Then I reinstalled the app and the update worked. You're good to go.
