Trouble with Downloads

I've had trouble with a bunch of files only partially downloading. Everything goes fine with the process, but only the first part of programs are there. The files that come through look a bit odd- the shortened ones all have

"-VMX up.mpg" added to the file name. Does this mean anything to anyone?

FYI, these were all VCAM shows I think. They were: VSO Onstage, Vermont Music Now, Victory for You 844 and 845.

When did you download them?

When did you download them? I posted them a little before they were finished uploading, because it was around 5pm and I thought no one would get to it until the next day. So, I will try to download them myself from here, and see what happens. The reason they have a different name is because I used a different application to encode those particular shows. There should not be a problem with the files, but I will look into it and get back to you.

Ahh,

That might be the problem. I downloaded a bunch of shows just before I left for the day on Friday, so may have just caught you before they were finished fully uploading.

I'll give them another shot.

Sorry about that. So much for me thinking I was being cool. I'll make sure I wait next time before publishing. Should work fine.

Having the same problem with programs from VCAM/RETN, the Pierre Rehov series, CRV, etc. They all are sourced as being from Rob Chapman.  They are downloading as .mov files some with same file name variation as Rebecca described. They come in okay from Pando, but can not be made into MPEG2 files by the VMX.  I get Applescript error warning: "application isn't running (-600)"

I was able to re-download

I was able to re-download the two recent Victory For You files and they are both fine. I do have to rename those files though- in fact, I have to rename most VMX files before moving them into the Leitronics/Nexus system as it doen't like any spaces or odd characters like dashes in the filenames. Kenric, you might try doing that before moving the files from your VMX computer over to playback.

What version of VMX are you

What version of VMX are you running? SHould be 1.5.1 - and I will check out the conversion of these files. On my initial testing it went okay, but I will check it out again. Can you open the files in Quicktime? If not, that is the problem. If you can, it's something else. I'll take a look at it tomorrow. Thanks for the note.

Affirmative on both questions, Captain. It may be noted that I m also having trouble making mp4 files from the mp2s in the ToMpeg4 folder.  It worked okay yesterday, but today something is blocking them from transferring.  Yes, the mp2 files are unlocked.  This is happening on all of our computers.

Trying to download a "Down

Trying to download a "Down by the Riverside" program from ORCA, and Pando is giving me a message "File Create Error: The package you have tried to open has a file that cannot be created (may be caused by an illegal character in the filename)".  The filename does not seem to have any "illegal characters."

I don't know what the

I don't know what the respective filename is, but it likely got corrupted. I would contact ORCA (or maybe Kenric is reading this) and have them try to re-upload the file using Pando and then update the Pando link on the VMX submission for that program.

But they might want to change the MPEG-4 filename if it has any spaces or other punctuation in it.

Drew, please tell me which Riverwside program you are having trouble with.

thanks!

Kenric, it was the "Shutting

Kenric, it was the "Shutting Down War Profiteers..." episode.  The filename looks perfectly normal.  Maybe if you just try reuploading it, we'll try it again.  for now, I'm downloading another DBR episode and I'll keep you posted on its success.

I am re-converting the

I am re-converting the shows from last week with the VMX machine and hopefully I will have them up by the end of today. We'll see how fast it can go. Keep your eye out.
