Trimming before uploading

This is just a note for all those uploading live events, or any show for that matter, but especially live events, and they are the ones I have seen with this issue.

Please trim your episodes to include only the program content before converting and uploading your shows. I have seen a few show come down the pipe with extra leader at the head, and voices of people saying, "Should we start now…?", as well as several minutes of black at the end, and on some meetings, several minutes of breakdown time where the camera was still running, but the content was over. The burden of trimming the episode should not be on the shoulders of the person downloading the episode.

If you are using DVDs for the main aquisition, use MPEG Streamclip (a free program) to trim the show before converting.

(Note: do the trim BEFORE you convert to mp4, as the trim could break the mp4 file, rendering it useless on the other end.)
