mov files rather than MP4

We have noticed that VCAM often uses Quicktime (MOV) file extensions on uploaded videos. When we go to download those files, we get a Pando "File Create Error". Will not download. Never have this problem when using the MP4 file extension.

Still noticing the MOV file
Still noticing the MOV file extensions on VCAM programs. We continue to have problems transcoding these using VMX's "Make MPEG-2" function. The files start to transocde, but the programs are cut short / truncated.
How are you judging this.
How are you judging this. These files have been tested over and over again and they work perfectly. Have you opened them on the VMX machine using the VLC player?

Yup, I'm also having
Yup, I'm also having trouble with the .mov files from VCAM lots of times either the files are cut off or they will not transcode. Sometimes they will work after a few attempts, but this gets very time consuming with all the programs we are supposed to be getting from VCAM producers.
And yes we are exclusively using our vmx machine for the downloads and transcodes and are all up to date with pando and the VMX updates.

Hey Matt- Yeah, we are
Hey Matt-
Yeah, we are also exclusively using the VMX machine to download and transcode. We are judging this bc we either get A) a Pando error saying "File Create Error" or B) the filedownloads OK, but the VMX transcode (i.e. "Make MPEG 2") will cut short and then, upon looking at the file in VLC player or another player, the program is not all there.
Looking at the FFMPEG logs for the failed files, they show H.264 errors - decoding errors. The 2 that stand off the top of my head are the recent American Socialism show, which we tried yesterday, and the ISDEeconomy program, which we tried transcoding on Dec 1st. Both show the same decoding error in the log and both were cut short in the "Make MPEG-2" process.
Thanks

I thought I had posted something on this subject yesterday, but don't see it here. Anyway we have been experiencing the problem as well. Started to encode Vermont Today Ep13 to MPG last Friday, and found it still stuck on it when I came in Monday. We just have too much work to do to troubleshoot this much. I'd rather get show on DVD if this is going to continue.
Nevertheless, I apprecate everyone's efforts to resolve issues as they arise.
Let me take another look at
Let me take another look at it all tonight and get back to you tomorrow.

OKAY. Finally able to
OKAY. Finally able to recreate what you are all talking about. Not sure why, but my MOV files hang on the longer movies. I have successfully transcoded shorter test movies, but the American Socilaism for the Rich is hanging for me too. i will give it a little more time, but not very optimistic. I have been using a mix of the VMX and MOV files because I upload so many shows that the VMX machine gets bogged down. I am not sure what shows I have done in the MOV format, so if you could just post here what shows you have recieved in the MOV format I will get them uploaded by Monday (probably sooner, but can't promise until I know how many shows I have to redo.) Sorry for all the inconvenience. I'm still a work in progress......
