"get code" window empty

I recently installed VMX on my desk computer so I can up/download without running into the playback room.

I have the latest vesion of pando, version 2.1.5.7 and the computer has the necessary requirements to run pando/VMX.

I've checked for updates, etc. and everything is normal, except when I go to share an mp4 file to web in Pando.  I click Get Code, and the "Send to Web or IM" box appears empty.  the only thing I can do is click OK. without getting further information.  On the main VMX computer in the playback room, the window appears as it should, so I'm not sure what may be different about mine.

Hey Kenric, Try downloading

Hey Kenric,

Try downloading the latest version of Pando Pro here: http://pando.com/downloadpro

You'll need that version of Pando for VMX, as well as the login info for it (this can be found in the VMX Handbook).

In terms of the error, I'm not sure why it would be happening; Pando is a 3rd party application that I don't know the inner workings of.

You can always try restarting your computer and seeing if it starts working again.

This response from Pando on the issue.

---

This is a known Problem, and our developers are working on a fix for the next version. In the meantime you can:

1. Send the file via send to web/im as normal
2. Forward the file to recipients via email or:
Forward the file to yourself, then send the .pando attachment to your recipients or post on your webspace manually.

---

It does indeed work to email the file to myself, then ctrl-click on the file, select "copy link" from the drop-down, and paste it into the VMX submission form as usual.  Not a fix, but a work-around.

Kenric,  Think we found

Kenric,

Think we found your issue. It seems that the update to Mac OSX 10.5.5 is the culprit. Check to see if you have that version. You can do this by going to the gray apple at the top left of your screen and choosing About This Mac. The version will show under the Apple logo. If it is 10.5.5 then that's it. If not, what version is it so we can make sure previous versions don't have the same bug. For anyone else out there having this issue, follow Kenric's workaround until Pando issues an update. Good job Kenric, with the workaround. Thanks. Post back your OS version.

I'm following (Kenric probably is, too), and as soon as it's done we'll get the update out.

Emily/Kenric, could you post

Emily/Kenric, could you post the work-around procedure in a little more detail (step-by-step)? I am not setting up the email link correctly as Bob F was unable to download a file I tried to put on VMX. Thanks.

The "Kenric Work-Around:"

When your file has finished sending to to web, select the file in Pando. Click "Share." From the Share New drop down, choose email. Your file should automatically appear in the space.  Enter your own email in the To: space and give it a subject like "showname link". Now send it. It will only take a second or two to receive it, because you have already put the file on Pando's server.

When you receive it in your email, "mouseover" the file icon, and Comand-click (or right-click) the icon. From the resulting drop-down, choose Copy Link.  This places the link in your bufffer so you can paste it into the appropriate boxes on the program submission form.

Note: If you have copied your link the classic way (by highlighting it) in previous attempts and it didn't work, check to see you got the entire link.  If you are missing the "h" in "http" for example, it will derail your link. Writing from experience here.

I also have this problem, so

I also have this problem, so can't I just reinstall the older OSX 10.4.1 and wait until Pando upgrades their software or are there other reasons to keep OSX 10.5.5 and use the Kenric work-around?

Don't install 10.4.x. If

Don't install 10.4.x. If you do a reinstall make sure you stick with Leopard (10.5) and just refrain from doing ANY updates. Right now it looks as though the only working version is the original. But I haven't tested 10.5.2 yet.

You can reinstall back to

You can reinstall back to 10.5.1, but you will need to spend quite a bit of time reconfiguring the system to include all of the necessary VMX-related programs. As a minimum, you would need to do the following:

- Reinstall 10.5 (install disk is with the VMX machine)
- Set it up with the same Mac username and password
- Install Xcode Tools (this is a bundled app that's also on the install disk, but you have to install this after doing the operating system)
- Install the following programs: Pando Pro (http://pando.com/downloadpro), Normalize (on the VMX self support page (http://vermontmediaexchange.net/content/vmx-self-support), VMX Application (also on the self support page), Handbrake (you will need to get the settings before you do the reinstall), VLC, Vine Server (you would configure this with assistance from me likely), Quicktime Pro (you'll need to write down your current key before reinstalling), Firefox, ffmpegX

There's quite a bit involved with all of this. Matt was thinking about making an install disk for 10.5 that included all of these things preset...are you still going to do this, Matt, or was there an issue?

I just submitted "Three

I just submitted "Three Wassail Parades..." and I do not think the download link will work.  Can you test this for me and let me know if you are able to download this file? It seems when I "copy link" from my email there is a problem with the Pando recognition.  Thanks.

Should I be sending this file to myself via my gmail account instead of the wctv8@comcast.net account?  Thanks again.

To avoid confusion with

To avoid confusion with double listing the program, I deleted the Woodstock submission for the Wassail Parade program from VMX since Bob Franzoni submitted it from CATV.

Is it possible for you to

Is it possible for you to log on to my iMac and reinstall the older software from VCAM?  If not I will drop off the computer at VCAM by Tuesday.

To all on this

To all on this site!!!

Please don't click the REPLY button when you respond to a post, it places your post in the line instead of at the bottom, which makes it hard to find your post. Rather, just start typing in the COMMENT field at the bottom of the thread and it will automatically go to the bottom. If you are responding to a certain post in the thread then you should copy and paste the portion you are responding to and put it in quotes so it's obvious. But still, all successive posts should go to the bottom of the thread to keep it clear when the post was made.

Thanks.
