Audio levels too low

Audio levels too low on MaestroVision Maitre'd Lite

I have downloaded three programs and all play way too low. Our regular production levels are higher -6 to 0 in order to have good levels. Can I boost levels? Or do I need to change output levels?

If you normally encode to

If you normally encode to -6 on a digital scale then your server settings are set to play back a louder file, so they would be lower. All digital audio for broadcast should be leveled at -12 (the digital equivalent of 0 analog) and then all files will play fine. You might be able to boost the levels if you convert it, edit it, then re-encode it, but that is a long and involved procedure, and requires the use of an NLE. The audio normalization is becoming a key factor for ALL in this VMX system, especially if we are going to join it with the ACM filesharing network. Everyone should take whatever steps they need to to make sure they are broadcasting safely at -12 db. Of course, there is much resistance to this it would seem...
